I’m Renee, a South Louisiana wedding photographer striving to create blissful experiences and timeless images. As a former CPA, I live for organization, but my secret power is handling chaos with grace on wedding days. From rounding up rowdy wedding parties to bustling dresses, I’ve got your back - without missing a shot.
When Kathryn reached out to me almost two (!) years ago to photograph her wedding, I was so excited!! Kathryn and I went to high school together a loooong time ago (let’s just say our ten year reunion has already happened) and I remembered that she always had a smile on her face, with the sweetest bubbly and energetic personality! It’s safe to say she hasn’t changed one bit, even after 10 plus years and med school, and she was THE most laid-back bride ever!
As Brendan and I walked to their first look, he told me they met at med school while on a white water rafting trip. They were riding to the trip together when the person driving got lost and drove them an hour in the wrong direction! Talk about a great way to really get to know someone. And what a fun story to tell their future grandkids!
One of my favorite details of the day was the fact that Kathryn wore her mom’s wedding dress, and Brendan’s mom’s veil! And they went together so perfectly! Another special detail was Brendan’s: he had two six-pence cufflinks, one with his mom’s birth year and one with his dad’s. It is so so sweet when couples choose to honor their family members in the details of their wedding. It’s a huge day for parents too, and to dedicate a small part of the day to them means the world.
After the ceremony, my job got a little interesting! Brendan’s parents had lined up a surprise fireworks show on the levee across from the front lawn. No one knew about this except the parents, the venue coordinator, and myself! My job was to convince 300 plus wedding guests AND Kathryn and Brendan that they were all taking a “group photo” together. As I counted out “1, 2, 3,” to this huge group staring at ME, the venue coordinator was standing right next to me whispering into a walkie-talkie to the fireworks guy: “5, 4, 3, 2…NOW!” Talk about nervewracking!!! Then I raced through the crowd to a few close up shots of Kathryn and Brendan with their surprise fireworks show! Thankfully, it all went off without a hitch and will probably be one of my favorite wedding memories of all-time.
Anyways, enough of my rambling!! Here’s a few of my favorite photos from last Saturday!!! Thank you so much Kathryn and Brendan for giving me the honor of being a part of this! I hope you two enjoy Colombia!!
Y’all, the GLOW! We were so worried about the rain all day and for nothing! The weather was beyond perfect!
See that top left photo below? I went to high school with all three of those girls! Such a fun little reunion!
