I’m Renee, a South Louisiana wedding photographer striving to create blissful experiences and timeless images. As a former CPA, I live for organization, but my secret power is handling chaos with grace on wedding days. From rounding up rowdy wedding parties to bustling dresses, I’ve got your back - without missing a shot.
I say it all the time but I’ll say it again…we are so lucky to live in the South where bridals are a “thing”! Spending this time with my brides is one of my favorite parts of the wedding process (no offense guys!) But I also know how nerve-wracking it can be to be in front of the camera in your full wedding day attire for the first time! Below are a few tips to help make the most out of this time so you can relax and enjoy it!
1. Bring a friend
It is SO helpful to have someone to help you get dressed, carry your accessories, and fluff your veil! Not to mention it makes it a lot of fun! Most brides either bring a mom, MOH, sister, or all of the above!
2. Test run H&MU
I highly recommend using the same hair and makeup artists you plan on using for the wedding, if at all possible! This means you kill two birds with one stone and don’t have to do a separate trial run with them!
3. Stay hydrated!
This is SO important with how HOT it gets down here, and it’s an easy thing to forget! Walking around in a heavy, layered dress in the Louisiana heat is a recipe for dehydration!
4. Talk to your tailor
This is something I messed up on for my own wedding! I didn’t think about bridals when planning when to bring my dress to get altered. And since I was trying to lose those “last 5 pounds” I waited a little too long…and let’s just say my tailor was not very happy he had to rush! Make sure to remember that you’ll need the dress completely done a month or two before the wedding!
5. Spare shoes
If your heels aren’t the most comfortable shoes (honestly, what heels are?!) bring a pair of flip flops that are easy to throw on when we’re walking between locations! Your toes will thank me!
